August Means Its Back to School

  • Aug 2, 2017

Making the transition back to school can be challenging for parents and kids alike. Kids, who have been sleeping in, now have to get up and get ready to head out the door. Lunchtime means parents need to plan and pack and try to get your kids some nutrition in spite of the junk food they'll be exposed to all day long. And homework? Yes, get ready for that time when at home learning means you get to refresh your memory too.

Here's some pointers to help you get ready for back to school:

Try to get organized the night before: Get backpacks ready, clothes laid out and lunch planned (if not made). If there's any special activities for the day ahead, get those set too.  The more prepared you are, the smoother your morning will go.

Help kids by visualizing the morning time line: Whether its the alarm or mom or dad waking them up, it's important for kids to know what time they'll get awoken, what time they're expected to be eating breakfast, what time to get dressed, and what time they'll leave the house.

Prepare for the time after school: If you want to let your kids have some down time after school, let them know that.  But set a time they need to begin homework and a time they need to finish it. If they want to take a break and play a game every 20 to 30 minutes or so for 10-15 minutes, that's okay too.  They'll just need to meet their deadline to finish their homework. Sports and after school activities can alter the routine, so include those in your planning, but be sure to take some time for the two of you to listen, to do homework as needed and enjoy.

Of course, we have some great promotions to help you get set for Spirit Week or Field Trips or any other school activities.  You'll see some of our best sellers in the promotional items below.
